VIENNA GIRARDI & JAKE PAVELKA
First, Pavelka picked Girardi, the Bachelor finalist viewers loved to hate, in the season finale. Then, their dramatic split played out in the press. To top it all off, the former couple reunited for an on-air interview with Chris Harrison that became awkward fast. Girardi called Pavelka a "liar" and a "fame whore" before bursting into tears and storming out of the interview. (She never did get that "poly-o-graph test" for her ex.)

Mesnick orchestrated one of the most shocking twists in Bachelor history when he proposed to Melissa Rycroft only to publicly dump her on After the Final Rose. The reason? He still had feelings for the other finalist, Molly Malaney. "I'm not proud of what I had to do," Mesnick said at the time. But it all worked out: this spring, he and wife Molly welcomed their first child.

"We've all been dealing with something this evening that we've never had to deal with on this show ever," Chris Harrison told the other ladies on Jake Pavelka's season of The Bachelor. "Rozlyn entered into an inappropriate relationship with one of our staffers." Papa denied any romance at the Women Tell All taping. "Riddle me this, Chris," she said, "You have cameras all over the place and you somehow miss the biggest scandal of the season. That's impressive."

The country singer charmed Jillian Harris but rumors about a girlfriend back home in Texas and questions about his motives eventually did him in. "I know I kept him for WAY too long," Harris wrote of Hayden in her PEOPLE blog, adding, "I still don't know if Wes had a girlfriend, but I do think Wes was there for his career." He seemed to prove what many suspected in a last limo ride after his elimination.

During Sean Lowe's turn as The Bachelor, LiCausi largely kept to herself, according to the other women on the show. Until they got to St. Croix. In a showdown with AshLee Frazier, LiCausi broke down, insisting that her parents had advised her not to "let those girls take your sparkle away." In a moment of spectacular timing (producer-orchestrated or otherwise), Lowe walked in at the tail end of the meltdown ... and soon after, sent LiCausi packing.

In one of the franchise's great humiliations, Ali Fedotowsky confronted Rego about having a girlfriend back home in Canada. Rego was speechless and ended up wandering off while Fedotowsky yelled at him to "sit down and talk like a man." She later said she was sticking up "for all the girls watching who have had a guy do this to them before." For his part, Rego insisted the girl back home was lying and said his entire experience on the show was

The model and controversial figure solidified her most-hated status when she committed two cardinal sins: stealing unplanned one-on-one time with Ben Flajnik and then proceeding to see him naked outside of a fantasy suite. "I was thinking we could go to the beach ... and we should bring the wine ... and we could definitely do something else out there if we felt so frisky," she told him before suggesting they go skinny-dipping. And Flajnik was helpless to resist.

After waiting an entire season to see his pick, fans were furious when Brad Womack became the first and only Bachelor in history to say goodbye to both finalists, Jenni Croft and DeAnna Pappas, in the season 11 finale. Both women left heartbroken. Womack got his second chance on season 15, when he returned to the show after going through "intensive therapy" to cure his fear of commitment. He did pick someone, Emily Maynard, but their relationship didn't last.

It was the most embarrassingly awkward icebreaker in the show's history. On the very first night, Elza came bearing gifts for Matt Grant – a pair of her underwear that she tried to shove in his pocket. Grant was flabbergasted, and not in a good way. "There were 24 other girls, and I had to find a way so that I was going to stick out," Elza told PEOPLE. "It wasn't by sitting there, smiling in conversation. It was going to be by doing something outrageous." It didn't help that she was a little tipsy.

It takes a lot to get Emily Maynard incensed. But McMahon managed it by referring to the single mom's daughter, Ricki, as Maynard blew up at McMahon, just about the only time we ever saw her as anything but a Southern belle. "How dare you?" she asked him, while also dropping an F-bomb. She later apologized for her language but not for dropping McMahon like a bad habit.

Money – disliked by her housemates (and a lot of the viewers) for her aggressive, outspoken nature – used manipulation to keep herself in the running for Brad Womack's reformed heart. "I want you to figure it out on your own," she told him one night, hinting at information she held about the other ladies. "Otherwise I'd be giving you a lot more information about a lot of women." Womack's exasperated response? "What does that mean?

Unlike the other smitten would-be suitors, Williams decided he just wasn't that into Bachelorette Ashley Hebert and made no secret of those feelings. "I would literally rather be like, swimming in pee than trying to plan a wedding with her," he said on camera. "I'm not thinking like, Oh my gosh, this is the girl of my dreams." And still, that was far from the end of Williams's reign of drama on Hebert's season. He returned only to confuse the Bachelorette even more until she'd had it. "Bentley, if you're watching this, f–– you," she told the cameras. I'm done with you."
