Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this.

Just months after auditioning alongside thousands of other contestants in cities across the country, the American Idol season 13 finalists have been announced, and they are eager and ready to enter the spotlight on the Fox reality singing competition.

“There’s nothing I’d rather do with the rest of my life than sing,” M.K. Nobilette, Idol‘s first contestant to reveal she was gay while on the show says in a video documenting the top 13’s first official photo shoot.

The top 13 will begin competing for America’s vote Wednesday night, when they take to the stage in front of judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. to sing songs that express the theme, “This Is Me.”
