The end of Scandal looks to be upon us.

ABC is expected to announce at next week’s upfronts that the upcoming seventh season will be the show’s last. The news was first reported by TVLine. Both Shondaland and ABC declined to comment.

While Scandal has already been renewed for a seventh season, executive producer Shonda Rhimes has previously indicated plans to keep the political fixer drama as a contained story.

“I know how long the show is going to run, and I know how it’s going to end, and I’m excited about it,” Rhimes recently told Entertainment Weekly at Scandal‘s 100th episode party. When asked whether that would be soon, Rhimes kept mum. “I’m not commenting on that.”
