Sandra Bullock appeared on The Tonight Show Wednesday to say goodbye to Jay Leno, and couldn’t help herself from tearing up a little.

“You’ve always been so kind,” Bullock told Leno, choking up. “Even when the film [I was promoting] was horrible and you knew it, you never let me see it in your eyes.”

“When I made crazy life decisions, you never questioned,” she continued. “You were just always so welcoming.”

The procession of guests paying tribute to Leno during his last weeks at the Tonight Show desk has been great for ratings: The show has hit a 15-month high in viewership.

Leno’s last show will be Thursday – better stock up on tissues now.
