Rosie O’Donnell came out swinging this weekend.
On the heels of announcing she’s leaving her post at The View as well as revealing continued marital issues with estranged wife Michelle Rounds, O’Donnell shifted the focus to newsman Brian Williams‘s current controversy.
At the Athena Film Festival at Barnard in New York City on Saturday, to present an award and screen her new HBO special Rosie O’Donnell: A Heartfelt Stand Up, the comedian took to the mic, likening her relationship issues to Williams’s situation.
Speaking to a woman in the audience, O’Donnell reportedly said, “I don’t know who you are, but you may be my next wife.” According to the New York Post‘s Page Six, she then added, “Maybe that’s the problem in my relationships; I see someone I like and make s— up like Brian Williams I escaped 9/11 from the Twin Towers. No I didn’t; I got mixed up. F—ing Lance Armstrong liar.”
O’Donnell, 52, isn’t the only comedian to take aim at Williams. On his show Real Time , host Bill Maher joked, “It happens to all of us We misplace our keys, have trouble with people’s names, we can’t remember if the helicopter we were in crashed!”
Williams recently announced he’s temporarily signing off from NBC’s Nightly News. He also canceled a scheduled appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman this week, while his network investigates the situation.
