She’s been poised atop the leader board for the past two weeks, and on Monday night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars, Ricki Lake nabbed a new distinction – the first 10s of the season!
On a night of dances set to movie scores, Lake and Derek Hough’s striking tango (set to the tune from Psycho) earned them a perfect score from both Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. Along with Len Goodman’s 9, the pair earned a whopping early-season 29 points.
“Brilliance in the ballroom,” Inaba said simply, while Tonioli was a bit more colorful. “The thrill of the chase, the buildup of tension,” he trilled. “Masters of the tango.”
After last week’s emotional performances, there was some levity in the ballroom with several more fun, light-hearted dances that paid tribute to the movies.
David Arquette had a breakout night with his Raiders of the Lost Ark paso doble that got him a standing ovation and praise from Tonioli. “I love the way you crack your whip,” teased the judge. “Tight muscles in tight pants.” Arquette’s daughter Coco, meanwhile, blew him kisses from the audience.
Also in the audience, of course, was Chaz Bono’s mom Cher, who looked delighted – and maybe even a bit teary-eyed – as her son gave his best performance to date (set to, appropriately, the theme from Rocky). He earned a personal high score of 21 points.
And fresh off her nude ESPN Body Issue appearance, soccer star Hope Solo earned high praise – and 24 points – from the judges for her fun-loving Toy Story Foxtrot. “It made me smile the whole way through,” said Inaba. “It was so refreshing to see you out there having fun.
Other notable moments from Monday’s show:
• Rob Kardashian has become a man while Dancing his partner, Cheryl Burke, told PEOPLE. Make that Superman. “You’re very steady, you’re very strong, you’re fluid,” said Inaba of his superhero paso doble. “It had some Superman flavor going on.”
• Carson Kressly put on a highly-entertaining Pirates of the Carribbean-themed Vienese Waltz, looking almost unrecognizable in his pirate getup. But the judges were unimpressed, awarding him just 20 points.
