Author Carole Radziwill celebrated her 50th birthday, fittingly enough, with a Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil party on Tuesday’s Real Housewives of New York City, and – in addition to real butterflies, chandeliers, lots of lace, mannequins and snake handlers – there were plenty of other surprises.
“I never celebrated my birthday after my husband died,” said Radziwill, who stated she initially wasn’t looking forward to celebrating her 50th, “but I feel sexy and empowered and strong.”
Although New York’s health department nixed the snakes, Heather Thomson, who planned Radziwill’s birthday bash, was able to infuse NYC with Southern charm as well as all the dirty secrets from John Berendt’s best seller.
“Jacques and I broke up, and it’s really hard,” LuAnn de Lesseps admitted at the party. “We have been bickering back and forth for months.”
Continued the countess, who had been in a four-year relationship: “He’s my rock, he’s my best friend, [but] we don’t want the same things anymore.”
It appeared, however, that Sonja Morgan and boyfriend Harry Dubin did, especially after he presented her with a stunning ring at the party.
“I want to be with you,” said Dubin.
“You mean between the sheets,” replied Morgan, who dated and broke up with Dubin 25 years ago.
“No, I want this to work,” he said, kissing her passionately. “I’d like to take it to another level This is a ring for you. It’s not your engagement ring, but it’s a step to that.”
Continued Dubin: “I’ll get you a bigger one This is just a ring to tell you how much I love and care for you.”
“He knows me. He gets me. Maybe it’s just meant to be,” said a giddy Morgan.
But when Morgan went to show the ring to Ramona Singer, who said the couple’s relationship was “just going in circles,” Dubin seemed to be making the moves on the countess.
And when Morgan went to find him minutes later, the man of her dreams was allegedly seen taking off with the newly single De Lesseps in a cab.
Could the countess – with whom Morgan has battled this season – be the brunette “devil in disguise” in Morgan’s “inner circle” that her psychic warned her about earlier in the show?
Meanwhile, the other housewives seem to be battling their own demons – Kristen Taekman and her husband, Josh, go to see a marriage counselor, and Singer gets very emotional about her daughter, Avery, leaving for college.
The season finale of The Real Housewives of New York City airs Tuesday (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
