Live with Regis and Kelly is getting a makeover for 2009. On Monday, the chatty morning show will debut a crisp new high-definition look and a new theme song.

Stars Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa will also appear in a revamped opening segment that works more New York City scenes into the picture, according to producers. But one element that will not change a bit is the show’s Central Park-view backdrop. Producers opted to keep the mesh piece instead of upgrading to a hi-def version to keep a touch of softness.

To remake the show’s theme song, Live conducted a contest, and received more than 3,000 submissions from pros and amateurs alike. The winner is Gabriel Saientz, a 35-year-old professional pianist from Argentina, who lives in Miami. In December, Saientz was presented with a $100,000 check for winning.

Producers have kept the new tune under wraps, but Saientz describes it is “a lively, happy theme song that goes with [Regis and Kelly’s] personalities.”

Anne Hathaway will be a guest on Monday’s show where she’ll talk about her new movie Bride Wars.
