Shannon Beador and her husband, David, headed south of the border to try and salvage their rocky marriage on Monday night’s The Real Housewives of Orange County, and despite Vicki Gunvalson‘s help their marriage may still be headed south.
“Divorce stinks, and if I can be some sort of outside influence, I’m going to encourage them to stay together,” said Gunvalson, who took the couple barhopping (and bar-top dancing) and also arranged for them to go horseback riding and enjoy a private lunch together.
Things certainly got real between the Beadors – whose marriage has been this season’s main storyline – as they enjoyed a lunch that not only had stunning views but even more stunning revelations.
“I feel like I’ve been in a bit of a slump,” Shannon told her husband. “Why would you want to spend time with someone who is angry all the time?”
Shannon, who has picked at her husband for everything from drinking watered-down tequila to the temperature of his water, continued: “I don’t recognize you. I just feel you slipping away. I feel like we’re roommates. All I want to do is be your partner.”
“I don’t see the action,” David said bluntly. “I’m done wasting my life. I want to be happy. I want to feel loved I want to stop living an unhappy life.”
“It sounds like you want to get divorced,” his wife replied.
“No,” he said.
“I want to be happy with you,” said Shannon.
“You need to be happy with yourself,” he told his emotional wife. “I do love you. The question is, ‘Can I make you happy?’ ”
Continued David: “If I made you happy, you wouldn’t treat me the way you do. We’re on a downward spiral.”
“Where do we go from here?” asked Shannon, who called the talk “one of the most painful days” of her life.
“We have to find time to forgive,” said David. “We have a lot of healing to do.”
But forgiving Tamra Barney was not on the vacation to-do list for the Beadors, Gunvalson or her boyfriend, Brooks, after Barney betrayed Beador by telling Heather Dubrow about her friend’s marital woes.
“I don’t know if there’s anything that could repair that,” Beador said. “I don’t let people in.”
“I have my antennas on high alert,” Gunvalson said of her volatile friendship with Barney, calling Barney and Dubrow’s treatment of Beador and her marriage “malicious.”
“This trip to Mexico has taken our friendship to a very high level,” said Beador of Gunvalson. “We get each other.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs Monday (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
