ABC’s Splash is only in its second week, but it’s already dived straight into drama.
“I had been doing the dive and it had been quite successful for me,” she explains of a move that will air on Tuesday night’s episode. “I was feeling really confident, and I went in for rehearsal before the shoot. We were rushed and I was a little nervous. I did a handstand off the five-meter platform and my arms, my elbows, just gave out on me.”
Adds the former Baywatch star, “I teetered on the top of it and then fell, scraped my legs and bounced off. It looks more dramatic than I can say in words. You have to see it – it scared the crap out of me. It really threw me for a loop. I was just a nervous wreck. But I did recover. I had to.”
Before joining the show, Eggert says she thought a series like Dancing with the Stars “seemed really scary,” but “Now I’m like, ‘Wow, maybe that would have been better.’ This one is definitely harder than I anticipated and harder than it looks.”
When it comes to six-day-a-week rehearsals with her fellow cast mates – including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Chuy Bravo and Louie Anderson – Eggert says, “At first it really started out feeling like a team. We were all in it together and it was all of our first time. Granted, a lot of things go on and a lot of things happen. But … we’re in it together. We admire each other for being in it and staying in it.”
