My Strange Addiction: Bad Breath? Just Don't Try This at Home

Posted on

Warning: This story could leave a bad taste in your mouth.

TLC’s My Strange Addiction would like to introduce you to Evelyn, a 27-year-old woman who can’t stop drinking air freshener.

But it’s not any bouquet of airborne potpourri she craves – Evelyn has a hankering for fresh linen. Cinnamon is not cinnamon, she says. Apple crisp is like “dirt.”

But fresh linen? That’s what takes her breath away.

“I literally crave it,” says Evelyn. “Not a day where I’ve not had it.”

And they wouldn’t call it My Strange Addiction if the show didn’t include a few strange relationships. Evelyn is married to a patient man named Ricky, who is oddly accepting of his gal pal’s obsession.

“I’m pretty sure it’s unhealthy because, if you look at it, it says, ‘Flammable,’ ” says Ricky (who may or may not go by the nickname Captain Obvious). “It’s nasty, it’s disgusting, but she loves it, and I love her so therefore I just have to deal with it.”

Evelyn’s story will be featured in one of two episodes airing Wednesday that will also focus on a woman who is addicted to becoming “long-necked,” a gal who consults psychics for every decision and a man who loves attracting attention by wearing casts – you know, like for broken bones (except he doesn’t have any).

My Strange Addiction airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
