While the drama of Jamie Lynn Spears’s off-screen life unfolds, the pregnant 16-year-old’s hit TV series, Nickelodeon’s top-rated Zoey 101, folds up its tent for the season on Friday.
The cliffhanger is over whether Zoey ends up staying at sunny California’s Pacific Coast Academy, or else hightails it to stuffy London with her folks.
Not one to breach the secrets of the coming season – such as, will Zoey ever realize Chase, played by Sean Flynn, is head over heels for her – Spears told the Associated Press in late November (well before the news of her pregnancy and the subsequent strong reactions): “I don’t know. I don’t know.”
Speaking from her home in Kentwood, Louisiana, where she and older sister Britney grew up, the younger Spears said, “Something definitely happens. But I guess you’ll just have to wait and see what comes of it all.”
Of her own real-life plans, she said in November, referring to future TV series or film roles after she completes Zoey 101, “I’m going to try to graduate before I do anything else.”
But “I don’t know. You know?” she says. “It’s all kind of open to whatever I feel like doing, I guess. Or whatever comes my way. I guess it will all fall into place.”
LSU Remains Possibility
Regarding her sometimes-discussed plans to attend Louisiana State University, she said, “I haven’t thought anything about what I might study. I’ll have to look more into that. But if I went anywhere, I think it would be fun to go to LSU.”
What Jamie Lynn won’t discuss is her sister, but she did say that there are no plans afoot for herself to move to paparazzi-infested Los Angeles, as Britney did. “No! Never will,” Spears said.
Chief among the reasons for staying in her hometown, she says, “It’s my friends. It’s where I grew up. I want to stay here.”
