Head Back to the Future with a Cast Reunion on the Set of The Michael J. Fox Show

Posted on

“Roads … where we’re going, we don’t need roads …”

Nowadays we just need DVR or TiVo, but either way, you can soon head “back to the future” on an upcoming episode of The Michael J. Fox Show.

Fox is planning on reuniting with costars from the 1985 blockbuster Back to the Future on a future episode of his NBC show. He recently teased the reunion on Twitter.

Christopher Lloyd, who played the blundering-yet-brilliant Dr. Emmett Brown opposite Fox’s Marty McFly in Robert Zemeckis’s classic and its two sequels, will guest star in an episode of The Michael J. Fox Show next spring, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lloyd will play the principal of the high school where Annie Henry (Betsy Brandt), the wife of Fox’s character Mike Henry, is employed.

Hope there’s room in the faculty parking lot for a Delorean. Filming begins this week in New York.

Lloyd isn’t the only star to be stopping by The Michael J. Fox Show: Brooke Shields, Anne Heche and Sting are all slotted for appearances. Call us greedy, but would it be too much to ask if Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, Thomas F. Wilson, Casey Siemasko or Elisabeth Shue could also stop by the show and bring our dreams of a real Back to the Future reunion to life? To help, here are a few ideas:

Back to the Future, 1985.
Lea Thompson, who memorably played Marty McFly’s mother/love interest Lorraine in Back to the Future, could play Annie’s PTA rival.

Crispin Glover, who was Marty’s father, George McFly, could be an adorably quirky love interest for Mike’s sister Leigh (played by Katie Finneran). We think it’s his destiny … er, density:

Thomas F. Wilson, who played bully Biff Tannen, could be a sports reporter foil to Mike’s news anchor.

Casey Siemasko, who played Biff’s back up “3-D” because he always wore 3-D glasses, could be the subject of one of Mike’s stories. Perhaps something on the longterm effects of 3-D glasses on vision?

And if The Michael J. Fox Show ever needs a principal for Eve’s high school, perhaps James Tolkan would be up for the part:

Finally, Elisabeth Shue played Marty’s girlfriend Jennifer in Back to the Future Part II and Back to the Future Part III, which qualifies her to play an investor in one of the business schemes hatched by Mike’s son Ian (Conor Romero).

And while we’re at it, how about a Justine Bateman or Meredith Baxter cameo, too? We know throwing the Family Ties actresses into an episode is kind of mixing metaphors, but we’re open to the idea. How about you?
