Clinton Kelly says ladies are making one big online dating mistake.

“I always say, ‘Don’t lead with the boobs,’ ” he tells PEOPLE of having too many sexy photos. “Maybe one picture could show them, but you don’t want eight.”

In his new TLC series, Love at First Swipe, the style expert gives romance-challenged daters and their profiles a makeover as they look for love online.

While having too many racy pics is the issue Kelly encounters the most, another other big no-no is having outdated photos.

“You have to present an accurate version of the way that you look now,” he says. “If you have pictures on your dating profile that are four years old and you don’t even look like that anymore, that is a problem.”

Though Love at First Swipe is a 30-minute show, Kelly says his is a full-time job since he doesn’t stop giving advice when the show ends.

“Not a day goes but in my life without people asking me for my opinion on what they are wearing,” he says. “They will ask, ‘What do you think about my outfit?’ That’s the line I hear the most. ‘Did I do okay?’ It’s really sweet!”

Love at First Swipe premieres Friday at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.
