When you have 16 brothers and sisters, four moms and a dad, it takes some time to meet everyone.
Baby Solomon – born on Wednesday to polygamist reality television stars Kody Brown, 43, and his newest (and fourth) wife Robyn, 33, was welcomed by Brown’s three other wives and their blended family of 16 kids, who celebrated the at-home birth as one big happy family.
Brown’s first wife, Meri, and their daughter, Mariah, 16, were among the first to arrive after Solomon was born.
“Mariah picked up Solomon and just started crying with joy,” says Brown. “My second daughter was holding my newest boy and it was beautiful … And the rest of the family got to come. It was wonderful.”
The Brown family’s unconventional lifestyle is featured on the TLC reality show Sister Wives and Robyn, who has three children – Dayton, 11, Aurora, 9, and Breanna, 7 – from a previous marriage, spoke about the new experience of welcoming a baby into a family with sister wives and so many other children.
“Having everyone come in and fall in love with him was just heartwarming,” she says. “Who doesn’t want to know that their child is loved by a whole big family? I had all these kids come in and moms falling in love with him. He has a list 21 deep of people loving him. There is not a lack of love.”
Home Birth Celebration
Robyn, who has had all her children at home, says she’s tired but doing well, as is baby Solomon, her first child with blonde hair.
“He looks like Kody,” she says. “All my babies before had dark, curly hair. He is so cute. He looks like a little Brown baby. He has a sweet, peaceful spirit.”
Brown coached his fourth wife through the birth with midwives assisting.
“I am still high,” Brown says. “I will crash later tomorrow I know. Robyn was a rock star. She went through some excruciating moments but she was incredible.”
Solomon (whose middle name is still being discussed by his parents), arrived 13 days past his due date.
“I kept getting people asking, ‘Is he here yet? Is he here yet?’ and Mariah was texting me and Meri was texting me,” she says, laughing. “Everyone was anxious … But Solomon took his time.”
And how did her new husband do during the birth?
“Kody was awesome,” Robyn says. “He was able to keep me calm and keep me focused when things got harder. I couldn’t get through a contraction without holding his hand. It was a beautiful, wonderful experience for me.”
Solomon’s birth will be featured on the Nov. 27 season finale of Sister Wives, which airs Sundays (9 p.m. ET) on TLC.
