Kim Kardashian West celebrated her 35th birthday with an evening at the movies Wednesday.
The Keeping up with the Kardashians star received a surprise birthday bash thrown by husband Kanye West at the Promenade at Westlake’s Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas in Westlake Village, California, PEOPLE has learned.
“Kim arrived hand-in-hand with Kanye,” a source tells PEOPLE. “She wore a beige dress with a coat. Guests brought gifts wrapped in black and white. They all toasted Kim before they entered a private, movie viewing.”
Kardashian West later confirmed the news herself taking to Instagram to thank her husband for the surprise.
Guests at the kid-free party, which kicked off around 3 p.m., included Kardashian West’s mother Kris Jenner and her beau Corey Gamble, as well as her sisters Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Kylie’s boyfriend Tyga. Stepparent Caitlyn Jenner also attended.
Tables and chairs were set up in the lobby of the theater ahead of the celebration, with floral arrangements and balloons used to mark the occasion. Refreshments were provided by Margarita Man.
Among the gifts Kardashian West received for her birthday was an Amazon Echo given to her by Shelli Azoff, the wife of music exec Irving Azoff. The voice-control device allows users a hands-free way to control their smart systems – from phones to televisions – and Kardashian West and her husband are said to be having fun using theirs.
Earlier in the day, Kardashian West received well wishes from her famous family on social media, including from sister Khloé Kardashian, who was not in attendance. Khloé has been staying in the hospital with estranged husband Lamar Odom, who was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel Oct. 13.
“Happy birthday, Keeks,” Khloé wrote. “You’re not only my sister but my dope ass best friend! I couldn’t be more proud to call you my sister. The older you get, the better you get! Keeks, I love you like crazy. Thank you for being such a great supporter! Today is your day so do you baby girl!”
