Justin "Rated R" Rego, 27, got caught with a girlfriend on Ali Fedotowsky’s season of The Bachelorette. On season 2 of Bachelor Pad, the ex-wrestler from Toronto got caught playing both sides of a house divided. He spoke with reporters about failed strategies (his and Jake Pavelka’s), his Bachelor Pad crush and power couple Vienna Girardi and Kasey Kahl.
Did you see anything that surprised you when you watched?
Ames and Jackie making out right away. They make a cute couple. And seeing how the voting went. It seemed like Gia was the deciding vote that sent me home. At the reunion, I want to clear that air. And props to Blake – he tried his best to scramble and get rid of Kasey.
Why gun for Kasey?
I know how manipulative he is in real life. He is very good at getting people on his side. I knew he would be a threat. I knew for my safety, I needed him out that door. Couples are a threat because they have each other’s backs the entire game.
What would you have done differently to avoid elimination?
I wouldn’t open my big mouth to Alli. If it isn’t one Ali getting me in trouble, it’s another. It would just be that one move. I knew the powers in the house were Michelle, Graham, Kasey, Vienna, Holly and Mike. I knew I had to break them up.
Was Jake giving the immunity rose to Vienna and even worse move?
That was the biggest mistake made in the game. That changed everything. Vienna was supposed to go home. He tried to be Mr. Superman and save her … I’m sure it’s going to bite him in the butt down the road.
Did his actions seem genuine?
I’d never met the guy before Bachelor Pad. I’d heard not so nice things and had a negative impression, but I gave him a chance because me and Gia are close. But I never got to know him. We never had deep conversations. It seemed like – and I know it is ironic me saying this – he was always putting on a fake image.
Anyone you were hoping would be in the house?
Michelle Money. I had a little crush on her watching her season. She’s a really pretty girl and I was interested in getting to know her.
Were you open to exploring a relationship?
I strictly went for the money. I had a girlfriend back home who makes me very happy.
You left Bachelorette in a flurry of controversy. Were you worried about returning to the spotlight?
The last year of my life has been an up-and-down battle. I’ve been doing nothing but defending myself and my actions on The Bachelorette. I have learned to love the villain character I was portrayed to be. So I wanted to give Bachelor fans what they wanted. They wanted to see “Rated R” so I gave it to them and made things entertaining. Whether you hate me or love me, I got a reaction out of you and that’s what I wanted. That’s Wrestling 101.
Who do you want to win?
It would be a toss up between Kirk, who was on my season and is truly a great human being, and Ames. He’s as sweet as he seems. Out of the females, two of the nicest people in the house were Jackie and Holly. Holly is an absolute awesome person.
Who will win?
Someone from that core four alliance of Graham, Michelle, Kasey or Vienna. They are strong competitors. They know what they’re doing in the game and they’re doing it well.
