Jesse and Becky fans are just not letting this go.

The most dedicated Full House followers have always wished that John Stamos and Lori Loughlin would get together in real life, as their characters did on the family sitcom. “John and I had so much fun together, but even I am like, ‘Why are people so obsessed with these two?’ ” Loughlin previously told PEOPLE.

The two were friends as young actors, working on daytime soaps long before Full House, Loughlin explains. As teenagers, “He asked me to go to Disneyland to see a band,” she tells PEOPLE.

In a romantic way?

“We fight internally about that,” she says with a laugh. “I’m like, ‘Was that a date?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah!’ ”

“As I recall, we ended up kissing,” Stamos tells PEOPLE. “That sounds like a date, right?”

Fuller House debuts Feb. 26 on Netflix.
