New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie‘s ongoing “Bridgegate” scandal has caught the attention of a pair of bosses.
Jimmy Fallon, dressed like Bruce Springsteen, stepped to a Late Night mic Tuesday night, wearing the rock icon’s trademark red bandana on his head and mirrored glasses, to sing about the debacle, for which Christie has apologized.
To the tune of “Born to Run,” Fallon sang, “Governor let me in, I want to be your friend / There’ll be no partisan divisions.”
After a first verse, he was joined on stage by The Boss himself, who stepped up to a second mic from the shadows in an identical outfit. Fallon and Springsteen strummed guitars during an acoustic duet that lamented how they were stuck in Christie’s “traffic jam.”
New Jersey’s Christie, a buzzed-about potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate, has said that the George Washington bridge tie-up last September – which came to light because of uncovered emails sent by his staff – was engineered by aides and not for his own political retribution against the mayor of Fort Lee, N.J., Reuters reported.
Springsteen, who has supported Democratic political candidates in the past, sang of the four days of traffic jams: “It was longer than one of my own damned shows.”
