Let the Jersey Shore spinoffs begin.

Paul DelVecchio, aka DJ Pauly D, has signed a series option deal with MTV for a new show that would focus on his burgeoning music career away from the beach, Variety reports.

“At the heart of Jersey Shore is the unique and genuine cast, and Pauly D truly embodies both qualities,” MTV programming chief Chris Linn says. “We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore, and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that.”

A pilot has already been filmed. DelVecchio is a rising star on the DJ circuit, and has released his first single with Universal Republic Records from the Jersey Shore soundtrack.

A spinoff is hardly a surprise, given Jersey Shore‘s runaway success. It is MTV’s highest-rated show of all time and basic cable’s top show for 2010 among viewers 12-34.
