Get ready, James Hinchcliffe — Broadway veteran Idina Menzel is ready to share the stage with you!
On Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars, the race car driver performed a jazz number with pro dancer Jenna Johnson (Sharna Burgess was still out with an injured knee) for the dancing reality competition’s Showstopper night — and impressed the Tony-winning guest judge!
After Hinchcliffe, who donned a green suit and cap, and Johnson completed their performance to the tunes of The Wiz‘s “A Brand New Day,” Menzel, who previously played the Wicked Witch of the West Elphaba on Broadway’s Wicked, gave the 29-year-old IndyCar Series racer not one, but two compliments.
“Wow! I played the Wicked Witch of the West on Broadway ages ago. Green is very hard to look good in and you look hot, first of all. I have to say that,” Menzel, 45, told the DWTS contestant.
“Second of all, I would share the stage with you anytime. You’re amazing,” she added.
Judge Julianne Hough (who also donned green!) echoed Mendel’s sentiments. “We all know you messed up — whatever — but I called it in like week 3: you should be on Broadway. That’s all I’m going to say,” Hough said.
Despite Burgess’ injury that first had her missing the live competition in week 8, Hinchcliffe has consistently stayed at the top of the scoreboard — and remains one of the two remaining men (alongside Calvin Jonhson) competing for the season 23 Mirrorball Trophy.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.
