Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t just win over Glee fans with her spirited performance as fun-loving substitute teacher Holly Holiday on Tuesday’s episode, but the cast as well.

“She is a sweetheart,” Mark Salling told PEOPLE at the worldwide launch of Volkswagen EOS in Santa Monica, Calif. “She actually gave us all wrap gifts.”

The actor, who plays bad-boy Puck, scored an old-fashioned telephone receiver that plugs into your cell phone.

Aside from showering the cast with gifts, Paltrow, 38, also kept them laughing.

“She’s very funny,” adds Salling, 28. “She put up with all of our questions about [husband Chris Martin’s band] Coldplay.”

Another question on everyone’s lips: Will the Oscar winner be making another appearance on Glee, perhaps as Mr. Schuester’s love interest? We’ll have to wait and see.
