Leave it to Margaret Cho to make a scene.
All eyes were on Melissa Rivers on Monday’s Fashion Police, as the daughter of the late Joan Rivers took her mother’s seat. But it was guest panelist Cho who made the biggest waves as the E! show returned from a months-long hiatus.
“I feel like that hair probably smells like pot and patchouli,” said Cho as host Giuliana Rancic Rancic looked on, appearing a bit sheepish.
In the final moments of Monday’s show, panelists were invited to share thoughts in a “what did we learn?” segment.

Cho had this to say: “I learned that, if you’re Asian and try to be black, it’s racist, but if you’re black and try to be Asian, it’s a compliment. So thank you, Lil Kim!”
There’s some significance to making a hair zinger like that right out of the gate. The show was rocked by controversy earlier this year when Rancic made comments about singer/actress Zendaya’s dreadlocks at the Oscars. Those comments saw Rancic accused of being racially insensitive and contributed to the show going on a months-long hiatus.
Rancic’s comments about Zendaya’s dreadlocks led to the departure of Kathy Griffin, who stepped into her friend Joan Rivers’ shoes following her unexpected death. Panelist Kelly Osbourne left in February over the same issue.
