Andrew Lloyd Webber may have coached the American Idol contestants this week, but it was the Phantom of the Opera movie star Emmy Rossum who singled out David Archuleta‘s rendition of “Think of Me” for an Internet ovation.
In a post on her MySpace page, Rossum, who played Christine in 2004’s movie musical, writes:
Did any of you happen to see American Idol last night? I tuned in as I’d heard it was Andrew Llyod Webber night. David Archuleta sang “Think of Me” (a conventionally poperatic female song) from Phantom of the Opera. His interpretation was a sexy smooth pop ballad and it was stunning. His performance was breathtaking. I’m sure it’s up on youtube but I wanted to share it with all the Phanton phans if you didn’t have a chance to tune in. Those who are loyal to the original interpretation might not love it, but he really did an excellent job of making it his own!
In a post script, the actress added, “David Cook was also great.” So who gets her vote?
