Eminem racked up eight MTV Video Music Award nominations, making him the year’s most nominated male artist, the network announced.
“Apparently MTV doesn’t care that I have two massive stadium shows on the other side of the country the day after the VMAs. F me, right?!?!,” says the rapper, who’s up for Best Male and Best Hip Hop Videos. “I mean, I’ll be there but don’t expect me to be nice about it.”
Gaga’s record-breaking 13 nominations include two Video of the Year nods – and she’ll go head to head against Katy Perry and Ke$ha in the Best Female Video category. All three ladies, along with Beyoncé, will also face off for Best Pop Video.
“I’m going to cry,” three-time nominee Ke$ha told Ryan Seacrest on his 102.7 KIIS-FM radio show Tuesday morning. “Did you know this is the best thing ever? My favorite day ever! I’ve been working so hard for this.”
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. EST. Fans can vote for general VMA categories on MTV’s Web site.
Florence + The Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over,” 30 Seconds to Mars’s “Kings and Queens,” Eminem’s “Not Afraid,” B.o.B’s “Airplanes,” and Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” will compete for Video of the Year.
