He’s dancing the quickstep Monday with partner Cheryl Burke, and despite an encouraging 33-point score in partner-switchup week, he worries about his footwork – and everything else.
“I’m a 6 on a confidence and talent level,” he told PEOPLE jokingly during a break in rehearsals Thursday.
But one thing is certain: He’s been among the audience favorites, which could help sustain him even if he falls short with judges.
“Most of my career, even from The Drew Carey Show, I’ve represented the common person,” he says. “The average guy on the street can probably see themselves in me and think to themselves, ‘Oh, if I was Drew Carey and I had that chance, I could probably do that!’ ”
He adds: “I’m not really that great of an anything. That’s my whole gig – Do the best with what I got. I think that’s why people root for me.”
