Lindsay Arnold is accustomed to helping other people shine as a pro on Dancing with the Stars, but the 21-year-old was the one in the spotlight Thursday when she walked down the aisle to wed her high school sweetheart.
“I’m so excited to dance through life with Sam,” Arnold tells PEOPLE exclusively of marrying college student Samuel Lightner Cusick, also 21. “I could never have imagined that when I was 16 years old I would have met the man I would marry and who would be my partner – yesterday, today and tomorrow!”
Arnold and Cusick exchanged vows in a small, private Mormon ceremony at the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City around 10:30 a.m.
But that was just the beginning of the festivities for the newlyweds, who became engaged during a trip to Africa last December.

In the afternoon, Arnold – in a chic vintage sleeveless dress by Moonlight Bridal – and Cusik exchanged rings in front of approximately 150 guests at the majestic Sleepy Ridge estate outside of Salt Lake City.
The day of events was coordinated by celebrity wedding planner Danielle Rothweiler of Rothweiler Event Design, who tells PEOPLE she used a color scheme of pinks, cremes and golds to evoke a “romantic, vintage, chic” vibe for the celebration, which was expected to swell to 400 guests for the dance reception following the seated dinner.
In addition to the wedding party – which included DWTS‘s Witney Carson, Emma Slater, Jenna Johnson and Brittany Cherry as well as former So You Think You Can Dance contestant Brooklyn Fullmer – the festivities were attended by Mark Ballas‘ mother Shirley Ballas and DWTS pro Sasha Farber.
