On Friday, Irwin visited her fan Alex, who is a patient at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Alex was dressed up in an animal mask to greet Irwin, 17, and Irwin’s mother Terri Irwin, who was along for the visit.
“You are so beautiful dear. I love your Halloween costume,” Irwin gushed to Alex.
Irwin treated Alex to some animal-related humor, telling her an owl-centered knock-knock joke that ended up making the Dancing with the Stars contestant crack up even more than her fan.
Irwin visited several other patients while at the hospital, telling ET the experience was “super emotional.”
“A few people have said, ‘I wish you brought an animal,’ so next time I’ll see if I can bring an animal,’ ” she said.
Though Irwin wasn’t wearing a costume during her visit, she showed off her spooky side on last week’s DWTS when she earned perfect 10s by playing a vampire queen.
Irwin isn’t the only member of the DWTS family to surprise a fan recently. On Thursday, former DWTS pro Maks Chmerkovskiy surprised 82-year-old fan Barbara Hankins after a private dance lesson at his dance studio in New Jersey.

“She’s so passionate and an amazing person,” Chmerkovskiy told PEOPLE of Hankins after the surprise.
