Peta Murgatroyd is back in the Dancing with the Stars ballroom just months after welcoming son Shai with fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy in January — and she’s blogging about her experience exclusively for PEOPLE. Follow Murgatroyd, 30, and her partner, The Bachelor star Nick Viall, 37, on Twitter!

I still don’t know what to say about last week.

Everyone was in utter shock about Maks and Heather’s elimination. We were waiting in the wings for the announcement to be made and then everyone just looked at me and said, “Oh my God, Peta, we are so sorry. We cannot believe this happened.”

It was honestly the first time in DWTS history that I reared up and just wanted to run out there and give him a huge hug, but I couldn’t — I had to wait until the producers said we could go. It was horrible.

Before the announcement, I just had this horrible feeling that it was going to be Heather and Maks. It was just mind-blowing, but it just showing that it’s not about how well you dance. It’s about the fans voting and how great you can get your personality across. Heather is a great girl and an amazing dancer, but it came down to the votes.

But the show must go on! This week for Nick and me has been really good. We have to perform a Movie Week dance with an action genre them, and I was honestly a little bit puzzled as to how to marry the slow and subtle Argentine tango with an action movie, but I tapped into the seductive nature of the dance and created a story where we are both spies and he’s coming after something I stole.

Nick has really embraced the Argentine tango. It’s a really manly dance and he’s going to look great doing it. It’s very passionate and plays to a lot of his strength. After a disappointing jive last week, we just want to climb up the leaderboard again and have a great dance and continue to improve.

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.
