What better way to be going into the Dancing with the Stars‘ semifinals than with not one, but two Chmerkovskiy brothers by your side?
In an exclusive sneak peek at Monday’s episode, Laurie Hernandez anxiously awaits older brother Maksim‘s arrival with her pro partner Val — and while she admits she’s “slightly scared” to work with Maks, she knows she made the right decision.
“I picked Maks because Maks also taught Val how to dance,” says Hernandez, 16. “And it’s cool to have two brothers in the same room at the same time as well!”
Maks, 36, and Val, 30, go on to twirl the Olympic gold medalist around the room as they practice their samba. (The trio will be performing “Magalenha” by Sergio Mendes.)
“How much do you want to win?” asks Val, affectionately ruffling Hernandez’s hair.
“This much!” she replies, holding her arms wide apart. “I want to win this much. Which is a lot!”
Maks previously competed on this season of the hit ABC dance competition with celebrity dance partner Amber Rose, who was eliminated last month. Now, the fan-favorite pro is going to be taking time off to be with fiancée Peta Murgatroyd, 30, and the son they’re expecting in January.
In addition to the trio dance, Hernandez and Val will also perform a foxtrot to Tori Kelly’s “Hollow.”
At the end of the night, one couple will be sent home, and the remaining four will head to the finals.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.
