Actress Jennie Garth bid a teary farewell to Dancing on Tuesday night. Despite two remarkable performances on Monday night’s semifinal, Garth did not receive enough fan votes to advance to the finals next week.
The 35-year-old mother of three seemed to take the news in stride, though she teared up as a montage of her nine-week journey played on video monitors. Garth took one final spin on the floor with her partner, season five newcomer Derek Hough. But the dance didn’t last for long as her husband, actor Peter Facinelli, cut in. The two slow-danced and kissed until the cameras stopped rolling. After the show, with her 13-month-old daughter Fiona in her arms, Garth told PEOPLE she was “happy to get back to my life. Come to my house. You won’t want to leave.”
“My family was so supportive, with me all the way. I taught my daughters such a valuable lesson,” said Garth, whose husband and 10-year-old daughter Luca Bella were often in the audience to see her perform.
What she’ll take away from the experience was “really putting my mind to it and knowing that if I wanted to accomplish something I could work hard and I could do it,” Garth said. “I really didn’t think I could do it at the beginning. I was doubting myself thinking what am I doing? But to work it out and stick to it is a valuable lesson not only for me but my girls, too.”
Garth had nothing but praise for her dance partner. “Derek is so talented. I think he has such a promising future ahead of him. I was so blessed to have him as my partner.”
Next up for Garth? “Nothing,” she said with a smile. “I’ve got a clean slate.”
While Garth can sit back, relax and reacquaint herself with her family over the Thanksgiving holiday, the three remaining celebrities – Mel B., Helio Castroneves and Marie Osmond – will be hard at work learning two new dances. –Monica Rizzo
