When Candace Cameron Bure takes the Dancing with the Stars stage next week, it will be a family affair.

“I couldn’t do it without their support because it really is a huge schedule, and as much as it is really physically challenging, it’s also mentally challenging,” Cameron Bure, 37, told PEOPLE at Tuesday’s Muppets Most Wanted Hollywood premiere, presented by Toyota. “My family is really excited that I’m doing the show, my husband is rooting me on, my kids just want to be a part of it in every way that they can be, so it’s just great.”

The former Full House child star will partner with two-time DWTS champ Mark Ballas, and the ballroom pro has the approval of her husband and three children.

Cameron Bure said her family “would have been happy with anyone,” but she’s especially thrilled to have Ballas, who’s already giving her tips for keeping her lines clean and shoulders up, by her side.

“I literally screamed when I saw Mark! We just go together really well, and he’s really patient, and very kind, and very gentle, so I was really happy,” she explained.

Still, Cameron Bure is already eying her biggest competition: Olympians Meryl Davis and Charlie White, who will compete separately.

“Hello! They’re Olympic gold medalists!” she joked. “They’re ‘ice dancers’! Hello?!”
