Four years after the shocking death of Brittany Murphy at the age of 32, Lifetime is planning to air a TV movie about the late actress.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two-hour biopic will premiere on Sept. 6. Titled The Brittany Murphy Story, the project will start with Murphy as an aspiring child star in the ’80s and follow her career and personal life through her 2009 death due to pneumonia, including the resulting aftermath.
Grey’s Anatomy actress Amanda Fuller will portray Murphy as an adult, and Twin Peaks star Sherilyn Fenn is set to take on the role of Murphy’s mother, Sharon Murphy. Currently, there is no news on who will play Simon Monjack, Murphy’s husband, who died five months after the actress.
Lifetime also has yet to reveal where the material for The Brittany Murphy Story came from. Sharon Murphy was not contacted by the channel about the project, and her spokesperson claims she has not contributed to the biopic in any way.
