Ada's Biggest Loser Blog: The Unknowns Are Revealed

The anticipation is over! The Unknowns have been revealed – and I like them! When I first heard the show would be adding two new trainers, my inclination was to dislike them because of my loyalty to Bob and Jillian. But after hearing their stories it was hard not relate to Brett Hoebel and Cara Castronuova. People always ask me where my determination and toughness comes from and I know for a fact it had everything to do with how I grew up. I had to learn to take care of myself. And like Cara, having a hard life has also made me stronger. Brett was overweight and that itself gives him enough credibility in my book. He’s been there, done it and now he teaches it. But what I like most about the two of them is their philosophy on being a “fighter.” The contestants will not only have to fight to stay here on The Biggest Loser but also in life because keeping the weight off is just as hard as getting it off.

I am loving the camaraderie with the teams because if I’ve learned anything, it’s that we all need a support system. I was a bit nervous when the yellow team called out Q for not giving 100 percent but in the end, we all need that tough love – and it worked! That same support was shown at the egg and water pumping challenges. Unfortunately, I know how this goes and as the competition intensifies, things will not be this peachy. So enjoy it while it lasts!

At the weigh in, my jaw literally dropped when I saw Dan and Don each gain 9 lbs. First off, it was just bizarre that twins ended up gaining the exact same weight. But beyond that, it was obvious they threw the weigh-in. Obvious. I’ve been on that Ranch. The fridge is stocked with nothing but healthy food and the only thing there is to do is work out. I’ve never seen Bob and Jillian so disappointed. And I’m sure it was a slap in the face to all those Biggest Loser hopefuls who didn’t make it on the show. Last season we had a similar situation with people wanting to go home, and boy did we lay into them. But in Dan’s defense, maybe he couldn’t cope with being away from his daughter after losing his son. The one day he didn’t speak to his son, he died. I’m sure that weighs heavily on him and at this point, he wants nothing more than to be close to his family. For his sake, I hope he’s able to take everything he’s learned and succeed at home.
