Barry Williams joins his co stars and the world in mourning the loss of his The Brady Bunch TV mom Florence Henderson, who passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday.

On Friday, the 62-year-old Santa Monica, California native told CNN Newsroom‘s Brooke Baldwin that when he first met her, she definitely didn’t look like “just a mom.”

“We filmed around her character for six episodes, then she came in,” Williams said. “I had not seen her before and didn’t have pictures, but when she came in, I thought, ‘Wow, this is more than just a mom.’ She was all done up and looked terrific and I thought she was quite splashy.”

Williams remembered that filming the first season of The Brady Bunch was a bit complicated. Henderson was off shooting a film when production for the show began, forcing them to begin without her.

Despite that, the chemistry between Henderson and the other actors still proved strong. Williams said she liked the theme song, but didn’t sing it.

“I think she did [like it],” he said. “But she didn’t sing it. It was only the Brady Bunch kids that sang it.”

According to Williams, Henderson also enjoyed filming episodes in Hawaii, and said those were perhaps her favorite.

“It was kind of a travelogue,” he said. “We were all out at the beach and working in this great environment. She was quite comfortable there.”

Williams took to Twitter on Friday morning after hearing the news of her death. “Deeply saddened,” he wrote. “Florence was one of the most gracious people I have ever known, Proud to call her Mom and life long friend #RIPFlorence.”
