The Bachelorette: Get Your First Look at Katilyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson

The clock is officially ticking: In just over one month, 25 potential suitors will decide whether they want to court Kaitlyn Bristowe or Britt Nilsson.

The Bachelorette premieres May 18, as ABC has just announced via Twitter, and it will kick off one of the most controversial seasons of the Bachelor franchise yet.

During the After the Rose finale special of The Bachelor, host Chris Harrison announced that Bachelor producers "just couldn’t decide" between the two runners-up from Chris Soules‘s season.

When she learned that she wouldn’t be the sole Bachelorette, Bristowe said, laughing, “I think what went through my mind was, ‘That’s not ideal.’ ”

For the most part, Bristowe’s thoughts were echoed by the Bachelor community at large. Former Bachelor Sean Lowe called the twist “downright degrading.”

Bachelorette Emily Maynard admitted that she loves the idea as a viewer but “kind of hate[s] it” as a woman.

Soon enough, the members of Team Kaitlyn or Team Britt will learn which lady will officially begin her journey to find love when The Bachelorette premieres May 18 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
