Olivia Benson finds herself in a difficult position on Wednesday’s upcoming episode of Law and Order: SVU.
While interviewing Ellis Griffin (guest star Corey Cott), who is under suspicion for rape and agrees to a DNA test, Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) meeting gets cut short when her colleague, Det. Odafin Tutuola (Ice T), says that the suspect’s father stopped the interview.
“The kid’s father is shutting down the interview,” Tutuola tells Benson in the episode, “Rape Interrupted.”
“Who is this guy?” she inquires as the trio walks down the hall to meet the man.
“He says he’s on the job from Nassau County P.D.,” Tutuola responds.
As the group enters the Manhattan special victims unit’s lobby, Benson stops in her tracks and a wave of surprise overcomes her. “Patrick?” she says to the man, who is revealed to be actor Anthony Edwards. “Patrick Griffin.”
“Do you know each other?” Tutuola questions.
Drum roll. “Um,” Benson responds with a gulp. “My first partner.”
This isn’t the first time Hargitay and Edwards have shared the screen together. Before she was Olivia Benson, Hargitay appeared on ER as Cynthia Hooper, Dr. Mark Greene’s (played by Edwards) love interest on season 4 of the NBC medical drama series.
Harigtay previously told PEOPLE of her 18-episode stint on the hit medical series: “When I was at ER I thought all I wanted to do was be on ER.”
Law & Order: SVU airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
