Although Jennifer Lopez called her version of Elton John’s “Daniel” "a beautiful moment," Thia Megia was eliminated along with Naima Adedapo on American Idol‘s double elimination Thursday.

Megia, 15, spoke to PEOPLE about what’s next, going on tour and what she didn’t get to sing for America and the Idol judges.

Fellow contestant Lauren Alaina was very tearful when it was announced that you were voted off. You two must have become very close.
When I saw her crying I wanted to cry, too, but I was trying to tell her not to because this is not the last that she is going to see me. But over the last couple of weeks we’ve grown so close to each other. I’m really going to miss that the most because she’s my guardian angel. She is just a sweet, sweet person and I’m going to miss just being with her throughout the whole experience. She really is my best friend.

What did you two bond over besides the fact that you are both the babies of the show?
Lauren and I are similar because we doubt ourselves a lot. Because of that, we’ve been there for each other so much. She’s more of a bubbly person and I am more reserved and quiet. I like to call us the yin and yang because we are balanced. She loves to make anybody smile and that’s what I love most about her. She’s just a wonderful person. I don’t know what she loves about me, but I love everything about her.

What’s next for you?
Singing is always going to be what I will be doing for the rest of my life no matter what. It will always be my thing. But of course I’m going to have to get back to school. Of course we’ve been doing school here, but I have some things to catch up on. But other than that I am going to be working on my songs and music and I’ll hopefully get to record the songs that I have yet to finish on an album. Hopefully I can share that with the world. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine. I would also love to get into acting as well. It’s definitely not at the end of the road for me.

What would you have loved to sing that you didn’t get to?
I didn’t get to sing as much up beat songs like Adele songs, Jason Mraz. I was thinking about doing some Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars would be cool, too. I’m not just a ballad singer. But the last performance that I did on the show I don’t regret because it was a beautiful song and I was singing to my big brother and I’m so proud. I am really happy about my last performance on the show.

Most looking forward to on the Idol tour?
Just traveling through all the different states. I have a strong passion for travel. I have wanted so much to go on the road with an awesome group of friends. I’m excited to be able to sing things that I wasn’t able to do on the show because I didn’t think it would fit in with the theme of the weeks. And I’m excited to perform in front of a bigger audience live.
