Alison Sweeney is the host of NBC’s The Biggest Loser, the award-winning star of Days of Our Lives, and author of The Star Attraction and The Mommy Diet. She’s also a director, producer, wife and mom. Like she has for the past three seasons, Alison will blog each week about the latest episode of The Biggest Loser. Follow her on Twitter: @Ali_Sweeney.

It’s week three at The Biggest Loser, and we started with the show’s first-ever auction.

It was so much fun to be the auctioneer for the day, particularly when the White Team thought they’d spent $180 on a mystery box filled with sugar and flour, only for me to surprise them with the news that it could be traded for any piece of already-purchased equipment. Talk about a dramatic shift in mood within the teams!

Thankfully, I said goodbye to the contestants before they had to explain what equipment they could work out with to their trainers.

They’re going to kill me, but I’ve got to say that it was entertaining to watch the trainers’ reactions with you.

By the time the contestants came to the gym for their weigh-in, they’d each gone through a range of emotions and breakthroughs.

Video chats with family are always so important to the contestants, but I think this one was critical for Matt – to know that his fiancé was supportive of him being at the Ranch instead of the two of them getting married that week.

For Ruben, it was crucial for him to talk to his mom about how homesick he’s been, and for Craig, to learn that he and his wife are expecting a baby girl, and to share in that joy with her. These were all keys to their successes on the Ranch and connections that will help them to succeed once they get home.

The numbers on the scale were incredibly low and the frustration was high at the start of the weigh-in, particularly for Bob’s Blue Team.

That all changed when Tumi found out she’d lost 10 lbs. to keep the White Team safe for another week. But, on The Biggest Loser, emotions change on a dime, and the tears were flowing again when Tanya didn’t lose any weight and when Ruben lost only 3 lbs. and was set for elimination.

Tanya worked so hard on herself in forgiving her mother for atrocious behavior, forgiving her family for not coming to her rescue, and forgiving herself for being in the shape she is today. I really believe that Dolvett using his “Trainer Save” will go a very long way to helping Tanya find health and happiness for herself.

My favorite moment of the week: When Tumi found out that she’d lost 10 lbs. You saw a bit of her celebration, but it kept on going. She kept hugging me, hugging Jillian, and hugging everyone, and it was a great moment for her.

By the way, I loved live Tweeting with everyone about the show! Thanks to all of you for joining in the conversation.
