Since wrapping season 8 of American Idol — and coming out on the cover of Rolling Stone — life is changing quickly for Adam Lambert, who’s now working his debut album and rehearsing for his upcoming Idols Live Tour while adjusting to life in the spotlight.
“It’s difficult. I’m not used to it,” he tells Parade.com of his newfound fame. “I’m still kind of working on finding that balance.”
One thing he has already found: Celebrities. And lots of them.
“I’ve met a lot of that I look up to, artists that I respect. That’s been crazy. Just last night I met Usher, Enrique Iglesias and My Chemical Romance at the studio,” he says. “I’ve just been meeting these artists and they know who I am now because of the show and Rolling Stone … it’s just weird to be on the same page as them, so to speak.”
The one artist who made Lambert the most starstruck: The Material Girl herself. “I met Madonna and that was pretty wild. Most everybody I’ve met is pretty cool and on the level, but Madonna is just legendary,” he says. “I’ve been a fan of hers since I was a kid. So that’s definitely part of the intimidation factor.”
But Lambert’s post-Idol life isn’t all hobnobbing with the stars. He’s working on his new album and “doing a lot of writing,” he says. “Something that can expect from the album is that, lyrically, everything that I’m singing about is true to my life … This is the album that’s going to be fun and exciting and sexy.”
And to make sure of it, Lambert is working with Lady Gaga‘s producer, RedOne. “We’re going to come out with some amazing tunes,” Lambert says. “I’m going to have my own sound but I do love Lady Gaga. I’m a huge fan.”
