JUSTIN & CAMERON
After almost four years together, Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz announced their breakup on Jan. 11, pledging "continued love and respect for one another." That lasted about a week, when the couple was spotted getting into a heated argument during a Golden Globes' afterparty. But by the time they were promoting Shrek the Third in London, the exes (and costars) were all smiles – even sharing a kiss on the red carpet. Since the breakup, Timberlake's been dating Jessica Biel, while Diaz has, most recently, been linked to John Mayer and Bradley Cooper.

MICHELLE & HEATH
The twosome, who met while filming Brokeback Mountain in 2004, split in September after three years together. Since the split, Ledger has been hitting the New York scene with pals.

PETE & KATE
A rocky romance full of scandals and drug arrests, Pete Doherty vowed to marry Kate Moss in June – providing he was clean of his heroin and cocaine addictions. But he soon moved out of her London home amid allegations that he had cheated. Less than a month later, he professed his love for the model in the U.K.'s Daily Mirror, saying, "I love her with all my heart."

KATE & OWEN
They met while filming the romantic comedy You, Me amp Dupree – and following Kate Hudson's split from husband Chris Robinson, she and Owen Wilson slowly took their relationship public. The romance looked to be the real deal, with his brother Luke saying, "He seems very happy." But the happiness would be short lived: They split in June. Hudson has since paired up with actor Dax Shephard, but for Wilson, things took a much more tragic turn when he was hospitalized in late August for an apparent suicide attempt.

JOHN & JESSICA
Troubador John Mayer and pop star Jessica Simpson attempted to downplay their romance for several months, only coming clean about it at the Grammy Awards. Mayer admitted the coupling to Ryan Seacrest – albeit, in Japanese! – saying that Jessica was "a lovely woman and I'm glad to be with her." Simpson then joined Mayer on the road for his Continuum tour, but the couple would break up in May, only to get back together and split – for good – in June.

RICHIE & DENISE
Following her sudden divorce from Charlie Sheen, Denise Richards linked up with Richie Sambora – who was then in the middle of a divorce from Heather Locklear, a close friend of hers. Richards defended their romance, saying she wasn't looking for love when she hooked up with the Bon Jovi rocker. But this May, the couple said their tumultuous year-long romance had ended.

ANNE & COLEY
Anne Heche is no stranger to high-profile breakups (think Ellen DeGeneres), but her marriage to cameraman Coley Laffoon had been low-key – that is, until her Men in Trees costar James Tupper came along. Heche, who's now living with Tupper in West Vancouver, was faced with an ugly divorce: She alleged that Laffoon viewed porn on the Internet and left their son Homer with nannies, while Laffoon charged that Heche was mentally unstable. How low did it go? The two fought publicly over furniture.

KIM & DIDDY
Kim Porter and Sean "Diddy" Combs's 10-year on-and-off relationship was declared officially "off" in July, just six months after Porter welcomed twin girls D'Lila Star and Jessie James (the couple also have a son, Christian, 9). Porter alleged that Diddy cheated – even fathering a child with another woman. In spite of this, Porter still says there are no ill feelings: "We're committed to our children even if we couldn't commit to each other." She even showed up at his birthday party in November.

DITA & MARILYN
After a year of marriage, burlesque dancer and model Dita Von Teese filed for divorce from rocker Marilyn Manson. Although she charged "irreconcilable differences," sources say the split was more likely caused by his partying – and his relationship with actress Evan Rachel Wood, which Von Teese would later call Manson, in return, said the marriage destroyed him. And Evan Rachel Wood? She calls her new relationship "healthy and loving."
