What We're Buying: Killer Black-and-White Kicks and the Perfect Summer Dress

Posted on

What are we buying this week? We’re glad you asked. Below, we rounded up a few of the things we found so irresistible, we had to have them. And then talk about them at length.

And we’ll happily return the favor. If you Tweet (@StyleWatchMag) or Instagram (@peoplestylewatchmag) a picture of the item and include #PSWshops, we’ll can showcase our favorites. And make sure to share shots of yourself wearing the item here; you might just see the latest addition to your closet on the site!

Writer-Reporter Jackie Fields: When it comes to footwear, I’m always looking for something to carry me through my daily commute so I can preserve my fragile flats. So when the wedge sneaker “trend” took off, I took note, but was skeptical of how long this look would last — until Beyoncé got custom high-top Isabel Marant kicks earlier this spring! Then I knew it was time to step up.

But finding a pair that was dope, not drab, was taking longer than I hoped. Then my colleague waltzed (true story) into the office in the Nike Dunk “New York” Sky High, and I fell in love. It was so sleek, so shiny, so … sold out in my size. Instead I picked up these black and white beauties. They’re my go-to shoe not just to shuttle myself to work, but to wear on a Friday night with printed pants, a tee and blazer. I may need a second pair, just to keep one spotless.

The best thing about these shoes? If the wedge sneaker trend suddenly falls flat, I didn’t break the bank to look cool and be comfortable!

Style Director Andrea Lavinthal: The only upside of the lousy weather we’ve been having here in NYC is that I don’t have to feel guilty about spending my time shopping in the city instead of lounging at the beach.

This past weekend I scored my new favorite dress at Tibi. The blue-and-white daisy-print design is feminine but the black contrast panels keep it from looking too girlie. It’s super-short so I plan to wear it exclusively with flat sandals.

And since the store was having a great sale, I couldn’t resist snatching up this graphic heart sweatshirt too.

Associate Editor Brittany Talarico: Confession time. I’ve been on a bit of a shoe binge lately. (Remember these and these?). It’s not like I planned to buy more, but alas, I was out shopping for something to wear for a friend’s bridal shower, and Zara (as usual) sucked me in.

There was one pair of these black-and-white gems left in my size, and I’m totally obsessed with the geometric print. Plus, they’re super comfortable and match with most of my summer wardrobe. And with all the Insta love loyal readers showed for my new purchase (more than 900 likes and counting!) I feel totally validated.
