What We're Buying: Chic Jewelry, Affordable Spring Finds and the Cutest Rain Boots

Posted on

Have you bought anything you loved lately? In the PEOPLE StyleWatch offices, the answer to that question is usually “Yes.” Below, check out the boots we love, the spring-ready pieces we couldn’t resist and the pricey, pretty ear cuff Nikki Reed adores.

Nikki Reed, actress: I’m obsessed with this Anita Ko ear cuff! I’m all about an accessory, like an ear accessory, and truthfully my alter ego has a thousand ear piercings and I can’t have them, so the cuff’s kind of an illusion.

Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: The closet in my new apartment is roughly twice the size of any other closet I’ve had in my adult life, and all my clothes are still spilling out onto the floor and into my husband’s closet. And even with that sad fact, I find myself facing it every morning thinking how much I hate my entire wardrobe.

So when I saw that Asos was having a major sale (up to 50% off tons of stuff), I thought, well, what harm can it do to click around a little bit? Famous last words. I ended up checking out with three dresses, including this really sweet “Mina” sundress with a keyhole cutout and an unexpectedly cool jewel print. Not only was it nearly half off, it’s versatile and cool and will look great with heels, chunky boots or sandals, plus any of the (many) jackets in my (overstuffed) closet. Hey, at least it gives me a really cute reason to get serious about spring cleaning!

Bridgette Bartlett, Freelance Fashion Reporter: What’s not to fancy about these C. Wonder lace-up rubber rain boots? The yummy lemon hue will brighten up any rainy NYC day, they come with two pairs of laces — classic navy and preppy chevron — and unlike my other (ahem, boring black) rain boots, these are ankle length, which makes them ideal for travel.

I’m not afraid to wear bright colors — in fact, I embrace them! — so I plan to rock these babies with everything from indigo blue skinny jeans to floral print mini dresses. Budget Bonus: I have every right to crush on these boots since they’re under $100 (score!) making the purchase seem totally justifiable even for an uber-frugal shopper like me.

Jackie Fields, Writer-Reporter: Who has done next-to-nothing to prepare for her figure-hugging spring wardrobe? This girl. My mini muffin top is literally begging me to steer clear of my bright, fitted blazers and seek out more oversize tops to call home for a little while longer. So I did what I do best: I opened my trusted email account dedicated to shopping newsletters (I dare you to front like you don’t have one) and scrolled and scrolled until I found this truly awesome piece from Topshop.

At first I was a little hesitant (Rihanna I am not) but I took a leap of faith, and now it’s my go-to jacket for the season. The deep blue hue is coordinating with all my denim, the floral print is totally on-trend but not over the top and the fit, is well, very flattering. Plus, I can layer it over a light sweater and plain white pashmina on these still shockingly freezing days, and not feel like a “fat guy in a little coat.” I’m officially sitting pretty while combination cleansing-and-Soul Cycling myself (not simultaneously, that’s a lot) back into shape.
