What to Wear This Valentine's Day Weekend, From a Hot Date to a Rom-Com Marathon at Home

Posted on

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with a dude, your best friends or just laying low with your family this weekend, we want you to look your best. So we rounded up four outfits from some of our favorite style stars for whatever social plans are marked down on your iCal.

Formal Date: We know it’s freezing right now in half the country, but if your night out involves door-to-door transportation, we think you can ditch the tights — especially if its for a formal date setting. We love the soft color and cozy material of Lupita Nyong’o’s Calvin Klein sweater dress, and thanks to the short hemline it still makes a sexy statement. Try a similar look with this body-loving design from Victoria’s Secret, pair with you favorite heels and get ready to see the guy you’re with turn into a puddle.

Dancing with Friends: Celeb Style Council member Naya Rivera majors in the art of wearing crop tops. The Glee star hit New York Fashion Week in an outfit that would be super easy to re-create, and super-fun to wear for a GNO. Bonus: We found her Michael Kors separates for less … a lot less. Team a midriff-baring topper like this one from Topshop with a high-waisted leather pencil skirt, which you probably already have in your closet. (If not, we’re loving this XOXO one for only $49.)

Family Brunch: If you’re part of one of those families who exchanges small gifts and schedules a V-Day meal together (we know what that’s like!), then it might be fun to dress up a little bit. We love AnnaSophia Robb’s fun printed dress and animal-print shoes. To re-create this look you might want to throw on some tights and your favorite ankle booties, then nab a style like this Limited wrap dress. You can dress it up or down, and it’s on sale!

Cozy Night In: Maybe you don’t have any big plans. Maybe you have a dinner and movie night at home with your guy, or a rom-com marathon with your closest friends. If you still want to look a step above basic skinnies and a tee, we say look to Olivia Palermo for some tips. (Honestly, when do we not look to the fashionista for outfit inspiration?) We love the star’s tuxedo-stripe pants and cozy sweater. For a similar look, check out these bottoms from Forever 21 and this black-and-white French Connection sweater. If you want to kick up the festive factor just a notch, this heart-print sweater is fun choice.

What are your Valentine’s Day weekend plans? What will you be wearing? Sound off in the comments.
