While collections from the world’s most famous design houses are shown during Paris Fashion Week, none will be more memorable than Alexander McQueen’s. The late designer, who took his own life just weeks ago, reduced the glamorous fashion crowd to tears with his final collection of signature bold prints–a Hollywood favorite of stars like Salma Hayek, Camille Belle and Anna Paquin–and flowing gowns worthy of the Oscars’ red carpet. Printed at the end of the show’s line sheets, according to WWD, were simple words– “Each piece is unique, as was he”– which seemed to embody the somber atmosphere of the late designer’s final runway collection. “It was a very moving experience to take a deep and serious look at his last collection. It showed Lee’s unique talent to create pieces of beauty that touch many of your senses, leaving one enriched,” Robert Polet, president and chief executive officer of Gucci Group, told WWD.
