Vanessa Hudgens seems to have perfected her boho chic style, from her outfits and hair right down to her lifestyle blog Astral & Opal that she is at all times Coachella-ready. But her recent styling accessory just got her into some murky waters with fans calling out her dream catcher hair piece as cultural appropriation.

On Monday Hudgens shared a photo of her curly do adorned with a dream catcher worn with the caption, “Chin up, Princess… Or the crown slips 👑 #monday @riawnacapri @beautycoach_com

Instantly, Instagram commenters took her to task, accusing her of appropriating Native American culture by wearing a dream catcher as hair jewelry. One person wrote, “Whyyy do you have a dream catcher in your hair 😩😩” Another asked: “You looking for another culture to appropriate?

But others came to her defense. “Wow. People are calling it ‘cultural appropriation’ as if her father isn’t of Irish and NATIVE AMERICAN decent. Some people are too quick to be overly-sensitive.”

“I’m mostly Native American; Blackfoot Indian, I find no offense to her doing this at all,” said another. “Too many people love to find reasons to be offended about something these days.”

This isn’t the only time the actress has accessorized with a dream catcher. She wore a similar style to Coachella in April and at the time her hairstylist Riawna Capri’s snap shot got significantly less criticism.
