It’s no secret that The Bachelorette‘s Trista Sutter loves pink. When she married her firefighter beau Ryan Sutter after the reality franchise’s inaugural season in 2003, Trista, 41, carried a bouquet of pink peonies and their wedding boasted 5,000 yards of pink ribbon. So it was only natural that the color take center stage when Ryan, 39, looked to create the perfect ring for his bride to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary.
“Ryan is really romantic and wanted to surprise Trista with something amazing and special,” L.A. jeweler Neil Lane tells PEOPLE exclusively. “He wanted to give her something with extra romance and extra sparkle to show his affection and love for her. She loves pink, which is already a really romantic color.” After texting back and forth and considering a half dozen concepts, Ryan and Lane collaborated on a very glamorous — and, yes, pink – diamond ring design.
“The band is entwined, representing Ryan and Trista’s shared love, and we accented it with 16 pink diamonds to give it a little extra sparkle and take it up a notch,” says the celebrity jeweler of the handmade 4-carat ring, which is set with an emerald-cut diamond surrounded by 208 smaller round diamonds. “This is a very glamorous, romantic ring. The one Ryan gave her 10 years ago has so much sentimentality of course but after all these years together, this was an opportunity to give something spectacular and knock her off her feet.”
Mission accomplished. “Trista loved, loved the ring,” Lane says, adding that the duo, who renewed their vows last month for an ABC special which aired Sunday night, are still madly in love. “There’s a mutual glow between them. After 10 years, they’re more in love than ever!”
