Tiffany & Co. and that little robin’s egg blue box enjoy a powerful hold over the female imagination. Perhaps it starts with simply dreaming of grabbing breakfast with Audrey Hepburn, or getting your first open heart pendant as a graduation gift, but out of that seems to blossom a lifelong love affair with the jewelry that comes wrapped up in that iconic packaging. So, naturally, when Tiffany throws a party to celebrate the refurbishing of its Beverly Hills outpost, the crème de la crème of the A-list show up in droves, including Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, and Halle Berry, ready to chat about just what makes this jewelry brand so special. (And to wear a lot of diamonds. That certainly doesn’t hurt.)
On the star-studded teal carpet, People caught up with a handful of the gorgeous ladies there to support the brand on Thursday night. Wonder Woman a.k.a. Gal Gadot was in attendance in a shimmering Dolce & Gabbana dress, which she said she chose because “I thought it was very elegant for this lovely event” — which she considered a reason “to spoil myself with some bling and go out.” The actress also gushed over a particular piece of jewelry close to her heart, saying, “My wedding ring is so meaningful to me because my husband is the greatest love of my life.”
Kate Hudson also made an appearance in a pink silk suit, which she loved despite not knowing the designer. But the actress is looking forward to getting dressed for fall, when asked what she’s looking forward to about it getting a little cooler, she said, “I always get excited to layer. I get excited to get cozy. I’m just loving now that LA is getting a little bit cooler, but I can’t wait to get to New York because I’m just dying for some weather.” And if there’s one thing we have here on the East Coast it’s plenty of weather.
Reese Witherspoon “started working with the brand about a year ago because they hired their first female creative design director for this iconic American brand, and it’s so great, because women are the ones that wear the jewelry,” she said. “And [creative director Francesca Amfitheatrof] just knows what women love, which is gorgeous jewelry, statement jewelry, but also everyday jewelry.” And though it’s a given that she’d be glamorous for events like this, she says she tries to maintain an air of elegance even for the earliest flight out of LAX. “I always remember my grandmother telling me, Don’t wear sweatpants to the airport. You never know. Somebody could take your picture!”
Jennifer Garner picked a simple black dress to be the canvas for her $1.7 million of Tiffany & Co. diamonds, though she didn’t take any of the credit: “Let’s not pretend that I ever get dressed by myself, shall we?”she joked. The credit for that went to Jordan Johnson of styling duo Jill & Jordan, and though Garner admitted her two daughters Violet and Seraphina “would love to be included” in picking out jewelry, “they wouldn’t have the foggiest notion” of where to start. But, she says, there are “all kinds of things” she hopes to pass on to them one day, including “a family cross I can’t wait to give them.”
As for Halle Berry, who wore a black Alexander McQueen blouse and trousers with just a hint of bra and plenty of pieces from the Tiffany Masterpiece collection, she made an appearance to support the brand that has, in turn, been a long-time supporter of one of the biggest charities she works with, The Jenesse Center for abused women and children. “So, any time they ask me, or invite me to come out and support anything they’re doing, I’m usually the first in line,” she said. “I think they represent style and class, longevity and grace, and I’m always proud to support them.”
