If you’re an avid Kylie Jenner follower on social media, you probably noticed a big change in her beauty routine. The 18-year-old star has left her famous claws, sorry klaws, behind, in favor of a shorter more natural style. And we just found out the real reason why. Ready for it?
“I just sat down and looked at my nails and realized long nails were so weird looking on me,” Kylie told PeopleStyle at the launch of her King Kylie nail polish kollection with SinfulColors, proudly holding up her shorter tips. “I cut them off, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. It was a trend, and I wanted to switch it up. I liked the natural look right now.”
The 18-year-old beauty maven is expanding her empire to include a lacquer line with the nail care brand. The first 20 jewel-tone shades (made with the SinfulShines gel-like formula) will be released March 1, with two more Kylie-branded collections rolling out in April and May. The polishes are not, however, connected to her on Kylie Cosmetics line, the brand under which she launched her lip kits and has plans to expand with other products.
“I feel like nails are very important to me,” she told PeopleStyle. “And it’s definitely another way of self-expression. I think it adds something to your style.”

If you’re already marking your calendars to nab some colors from her collection, Kylie has a suggestion: “My favorite [color] is Kryptonite. It’s a teal color, and I feel like that’s my signature color. And it’s different.” In the ads, she’s wearing a combination of Coconut, Kryptonite and Crème de la Crème.
What could be next for the star? Maybe she’ll copy Kim and debut her own like of Kymojis, complete with her own mani symbol.
“I love girly nudes,” she said when asked what color her main emoji would be wearing. “I would probably just have a pretty nude on.”
And if you’re still wondering if Kylie’s klaws will ever make a comeback, it remains unclear. For now, let’s take a moment of silence and reflect on Kylizzle’s talons.
The King Kylie Kollection launches in nine days and each bottle retails for $2.99, 99 cents more than the brand’s other polishes.
