Who: Will Smith
Where: At the Valentino menswear Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Paris Fashion Week show
Diagnosis: Causing stress flashbacks; we’re pretty sure we wore similarly printed pants back in grammar school, and seeing them on Smith is making us panic about our big Egg Drop project. Yes, Toile was huge in the ’90s, but Smith is bringing back the fabric, most commonly used for making drapes and chair cushions.
Smith’s jungle print pants (there are elephants and bamboo if you look closely) aren’t the only problem. His styling (we’re wondering if anyone helped him with this, or he pulled it off on his own) has us scratching our heads as well.
The biggest cause of concern? That he’s wearing camo sneakers with those bottoms. We’re all for mixing prints, but this is too much.
Prognosis and recommended treatment: We applaud you, Will, for thinking outside the box with this look, but we think the entire outfit needs an overhaul. If the toile pants are an absolute must, maybe try swapping out the army-green varsity jacket and camo sneakers for a nice V-neck sweater and some dress shoes. Or just dust off one of your Men and Black suits and a pair of Tom Ford wingtips and call it a day.
So, your thoughts? Do you agree Smith’s pants are problematic? Or do you hope the look catches on?
